Councillor Chris Mavin was designated Lord Mayor of Plymouth for 2020/21.

Chris sees his role as Lord Mayor a great honour and was truly looking forward to meeting as many residents and supporting as many events in Plymouth as possible.

However, unfortunately, together with the rest of the world, we find ourselves amidst this global health crisis named Covid 19.

Chris had great ideas regarding raising funds for his chosen charities, however under the circumstances has had to minimize events, meetings and understand that although charities are so very important to support, charity begins at home and at this uncertain time, people will be looking a little closer to home.

Chris has therefore decided to support one charity, that being Memory Matters.  This is very dear to his heart as recently his Father-in-law/best friend lost his life to dementia.

The Lord Mayors Charity of the Year has a fundraising manager Dawn Young – Dawn has some amazing fundraising opportunities for businesses, interested citizens and communities to get involved.

The Lord Mayor is looking for ‘Centurions’ to be part of the fundraising effort – could this be you?  To find out more contact Dawn Young at dpyoung@hotmail.co.uk.
